Editorial Policy & Corrections Policy

Last updated: October 3, 2026

Storybovr is committed to publishing biographies and people-focused content that is accurate, useful, fair and responsibly researched.

This Editorial Policy explains how we approach research, verification, updates, corrections, sensitive information, authorship and editorial independence.

It applies to content published on storybovr.com.ng.

Our Editorial Principles

Storybovr aims to publish content that is:

  • accurate;
  • clearly written;
  • useful to readers;
  • appropriately sourced;
  • fair to the people being discussed;
  • transparent about uncertainty;
  • updated when reliable new information becomes available; and
  • distinguishable from advertising or sponsored material.

We do not consider popularity, search demand or social-media attention sufficient reasons to publish information that cannot be responsibly supported.

Research and Verification

Biographical information can become inaccurate when websites repeatedly copy information from one another without checking the original source.

Storybovr aims to avoid that practice.

Before publishing important factual claims, we seek information from sources appropriate to the subject.

These may include:

  • official websites;
  • verified public profiles;
  • government records;
  • institutional records;
  • company and organisation websites;
  • recognised professional bodies;
  • reputable news organisations;
  • direct interviews;
  • published books;
  • established industry publications;
  • official sports or award organisations;
  • court or regulatory records where appropriate; and
  • public statements made directly by the person concerned.

The reliability of a source is assessed according to the type of claim being made.

A social-media post may be appropriate evidence for something a person said about themselves, for example, but may not be sufficient evidence for a serious allegation about another person.

Source Quality

Not all online sources are treated equally.

Where possible, we prefer original or primary sources over websites that merely repeat information published elsewhere.

We are cautious about relying on:

  • anonymous websites;
  • unsourced biography pages;
  • content farms;
  • copied articles;
  • social-media rumours;
  • unverified fan accounts;
  • automatically generated profiles; and
  • websites that provide no clear basis for their claims.

If a fact appears widely online but cannot be traced to a reliable source, we may omit it or clearly state that it has not been independently verified.

Facts, Estimates and Uncertainty

Storybovr aims to distinguish between established facts and information that remains uncertain.

Where reputable sources disagree, we may:

  • explain the disagreement;
  • identify which information is better supported;
  • avoid stating one version as certain;
  • update the article when stronger evidence becomes available; or
  • omit the disputed detail if it cannot be responsibly resolved.

We do not want readers to mistake speculation for fact.

Ages and Dates of Birth

Dates of birth are frequently misreported online.

Where possible, Storybovr checks age and birth information against reliable sources.

If credible sources provide conflicting dates, the article may explain the discrepancy rather than presenting an uncertain date as confirmed.

Net Worth and Financial Claims

Net-worth figures published online are often estimates and may not be independently verifiable.

Storybovr does not consider repetition across multiple websites proof that a financial estimate is accurate.

Where a person’s financial position has been reliably reported, we may explain the available information and identify it appropriately as reported or estimated.

Where no credible basis exists for an exact figure, we prefer wording such as:

“The person’s net worth has not been publicly verified.”

Known businesses, earnings, investments, contracts or other income sources may still be discussed where reliable information is available.

Relationships and Family Information

We publish family and relationship information only when it is reasonably relevant to a biography and supported by information already available in credible public sources.

We aim to avoid publishing:

  • private addresses;
  • private telephone numbers;
  • personal email addresses;
  • private financial information;
  • unnecessary information about children;
  • unsupported relationship rumours; or
  • details whose publication would create an unreasonable privacy or safety risk.

Public curiosity alone does not automatically justify publication.

Articles About Living People

Content about living people requires particular care because inaccurate information can cause real harm.

When covering a living person, Storybovr aims to distinguish clearly between:

  • confirmed facts;
  • attributed statements;
  • allegations;
  • disputed claims;
  • estimates;
  • opinions; and
  • rumours.

Serious allegations should be attributed to appropriate sources and presented in context.

An allegation is not presented as established fact simply because it has been reported.

Where relevant, we aim to include the response, denial, outcome or subsequent development connected to a serious allegation.

Crime, Legal Proceedings and Allegations

Legal and criminal matters require careful wording.

Storybovr aims to distinguish between terms such as:

  • accused;
  • arrested;
  • charged;
  • prosecuted;
  • convicted;
  • acquitted;
  • investigated; and
  • sued.

These words do not mean the same thing and should not be used interchangeably.

Where a legal matter is important to a biography, we seek reliable records or reputable reporting and aim to include relevant subsequent developments.

Health and Other Sensitive Information

Health, medical information and other sensitive personal matters are handled cautiously.

We generally publish such information only where:

  • the person has publicly disclosed it;
  • an authorised representative has disclosed it;
  • it has been reliably reported and is relevant to the person’s public story; or
  • there is another legitimate editorial reason for including it.

We avoid diagnosing people or presenting speculation about someone’s physical or mental health as fact.

Deaths and Breaking News

Information surrounding a person’s death can change quickly.

When reporting a recent death, Storybovr aims to rely on confirmation from family representatives, official institutions or reputable news organisations.

Unconfirmed social-media posts should not be treated as sufficient confirmation.

Cause-of-death information should not be stated as fact unless reliably confirmed.

Use of Artificial Intelligence and Editorial Tools

Storybovr may use digital or artificial-intelligence tools to assist with tasks such as:

  • organising research;
  • identifying information that requires further checking;
  • improving grammar and readability;
  • generating outlines;
  • summarising source material for editorial review; or
  • supporting other parts of the publishing workflow.

The use of a tool does not remove our responsibility for what is published.

Important factual claims should still be checked against appropriate sources, and published material should be reviewed for accuracy, relevance, fairness and clarity.

We do not consider automatically generated text a substitute for editorial responsibility.

Originality

Storybovr aims to publish original articles rather than simply reproducing material from other websites.

Research may draw from multiple sources, but articles should provide an independently written and organised account of the subject.

We do not intentionally publish plagiarised material.

Where direct quotations are useful, they should be limited, accurately attributed and used in appropriate context.

Authorship and Accountability

Where an author or editor is identified on Storybovr, the byline indicates responsibility for the article or its editorial preparation.

Author information should not be fabricated.

Where practical, Storybovr may provide author pages or biographies explaining the author’s role and areas of coverage.

Updates

A biography is not necessarily finished on the day it is published.

Articles may be updated when:

  • new appointments are announced;
  • careers change;
  • elections take place;
  • marriages or other publicly confirmed life events occur;
  • awards or achievements are announced;
  • reliable corrections become available;
  • previously disputed information is clarified;
  • major legal proceedings develop; or
  • older information becomes inaccurate.

An updated article may retain its original publication date while also displaying an updated date where the publishing system supports it.

Corrections Policy

Storybovr welcomes legitimate correction requests.

If you believe an article contains a factual error, outdated information or misleading wording, please contact:

info@storybovr.com.ng

Where possible, include:

  • the article URL;
  • the statement you believe is incorrect;
  • the correct information;
  • an explanation of the issue; and
  • a reliable source supporting your correction.

How Corrections Are Reviewed

Receiving a correction request does not automatically mean that the requested change will be made.

We review the available evidence and determine what correction, clarification or update is justified.

Depending on the situation, we may:

  • correct an inaccurate statement;
  • add missing context;
  • clarify uncertain wording;
  • update outdated information;
  • remove information that cannot be adequately supported;
  • retain the existing information where reliable evidence supports it; or
  • request additional evidence before making a decision.

Requests from the subject of an article are considered seriously, but claims may still be independently verified.

Corrections Versus Removal Requests

Storybovr distinguishes between correcting inaccurate information and removing accurate information.

We may correct information that is factually wrong.

However, we do not automatically remove accurate, lawfully published and editorially relevant information simply because someone would prefer that it no longer appear online.

Removal requests are assessed according to factors such as:

  • accuracy;
  • relevance;
  • privacy;
  • public interest;
  • safety;
  • legal obligations; and
  • the age and continuing significance of the information.

Right of Reply

Where a person or authorised representative believes an article contains important missing context, they may contact Storybovr with supporting information.

Where appropriate, we may update an article to reflect a credible response or clarification.

The existence of a disagreement does not necessarily mean an article is inaccurate, but meaningful responses will be considered fairly.

Editorial Independence

Storybovr’s editorial decisions are intended to remain separate from advertising relationships.

Advertisers do not receive the right to dictate factual conclusions in ordinary editorial content.

Where content is sponsored, promotional or otherwise commercially influenced, it should be identified appropriately.

Payment does not guarantee favourable editorial treatment.

Conflicts of Interest

Where a material relationship could reasonably affect how readers interpret an article, Storybovr aims to disclose it where appropriate.

Writers and editors should avoid knowingly presenting promotional material as independent journalism.

Advertising and Affiliate Content

Storybovr may display advertising or participate in legitimate commercial arrangements.

Advertisements should remain distinguishable from editorial content.

Where affiliate links or sponsored content are used, appropriate disclosures may be added where required.

Storybovr respects intellectual property rights.
